St. Francis Guild

St. Francis Guild was formed in 1965 at the request of Fr. Joseph B. McGurk, Pastor.  The Guilds' purpose was intended to unite the women of St. Mary's parish in a program of worship, study, civic service, and fellowship.

The Annual St. Patrick's Day salad luncheon and card party became a civic service to the Ponca City community.   Proceeds are given to local needs as follows:  Hospice of Ponca City, Birth Choice of Ponca City, New Emergency Resources Center, Peachtree Landing, Habitat for Humanity, Domestic Violence, Child Development Center.

When called upon, they also visit and take meals to ill members of the parish and along with other parish organizations, they take turns in doing receptions for parish sacraments and activities, poverty meals, etc.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the McGurk Room, Parish Center, and feature guest speakers and programs.  Past speakers have included David Keathly, "Status of the Marland Mansion", Sr. Esther Fiegel, "Inspiraonal Talk", Andy Longoria, "Extra Eyes Program, Diane Lowe "Bicycle Travelogue Across the USA" and Jan Browning "Women of the Bible".  The December meeting is a luncheon, and the May meeting is a brunch.

Dues are $5 per year.  Further contact information can be obtained by calling the Parish Center at 765-7794.
